Indomitable's level bombers actually worked surprisingly well, hitting for around 23k a run, but her attack planes will do around 14k as a back-up. Her AP rockets are "light" enough to not "overpen" the airfields, but still strong enough to work over the cruisers in it. Aquila has the best attack planes for the airfields so far, hitting them for 27k a strike. Hornet I suspect, is also in trouble here. Chkalov will be in trouble here, what with having no attack planes. I suspect the KM CV's will have trouble, save for GZ (based off of experience from other CV's). Make sure to hit "C" after you launch the Spotting Aircraft to get the higher elevation view. This is just like how Battleship players use Spotting Aircraft to hit guys hiding behind islands, even if they can't see and target them. You won't even need to hit "X" to lock the target with your sights. Popping Spotting Aircraft and manually setting the target on the airfield can be done. I was insulted that I got punished for playing the objectives.Īlso, in the 2nd phase, the daytime phase, firing from the center of the area where players are often found, towards the southwestern airfield, there's a bit of ground elevation that can block your LOS. I shelled the airfields, my Damage total was awful, and my BaseXP was absurdly low. I played Kansas and wound up in Cherry Blossom. This however will seriously degrade your damage numbers, as attacking ground targets don't pay off as well as you think it does, even if it's an objective. I experimented with this even with Kansas. Some ships can lob their shells over the hills. If nobody else is attacking those airfields you WILL need every plane you can save. Ditch the extra attack flights if it looks like you have to carry with airstrikes. The AA after you do 1 attack is too much and whatever extra planes you had are going to get zapped. Regardless, there's no time for follow up attacks with the same squadron. The benefit is there's usually no bot ships hanging around to add their AA against you. The southwestern airfield? The approach isn't too bad. But if you try to approach straight from the east you can get more through. Your planes get chewed up by that gauntlet. For example the northeastern airfield, if you try to come from the south or may be even the southeast, you also contend with the AA of the bot ships, as well as the shore AA defenses. The planes can get through, most especially it depends on how you approach the airfields.
